Negotiations are already under way, with the suggestion that the October event could be extended by several days to spread out the 450,000-strong crowd that usually attends. It's early days but the showmen are optimistic that it could be back for 2022, especially as Nottingham City Council has disregarded plans to put up a perimeter fence and charge admission to the event at Forest Recreation Ground. The last time Goose Fair took place in Nottingham was 2019 so a return is well overdue. The 71-year-old hitmaker, who appeared at Glastonbury in 2015, said: "I was originally scheduled to bring my Hello Tour to the UK and Europe in the summer of 2020, but for the health and safety of all, with the world in lockdown, the live music industry was forced to reschedule their 2020 tour dates. Organisers DHP Family described the Lionel Richie gig as "the biggest headline show in Nottingham in decades". Up to 18,000 tickets went on sale in 2020. The superstar, whose hits include Hello and Dancing on the Ceiling, will be performing at Victoria Embankment as part of his UK tour.
